If you’re a gay Marxist this movie’s gonna check a lot of your boxes, especially if you find Cary Elwes and Colin Firth attractive. The aristocratic boarding school atmosphere is so glowingly portrayed that you’ll long for it just as much as Guy does. My favorite parts are when Rupert Everett stares at Cary Elwes through binoculars and waxes rhapsodic in front of the naive younger boys to everyone’s chagrin. Nostalgic, romantic and a little tragic.
