The film does well to put a human face on the victims of the dirty war. Having not known about the government kidnapping of children of suspected dissidents, many of the details here were truly shocking. Alicia's role as history teacher adds an interesting thematic layer where both characters and viewers are encouraged to question common narratives, and acknowledge the murky nature of 'truth'.

Like Costa-Gavras' 'Missing', which focused on similar political reprisal's under the Pinochet regime in Chile, the film does a fantastic job of centering the brutal political conflict around a very human family drama. Highly recommended.
