And it goes; one, two, three - What the hell are we looking for? And then; five, twelve, seventy... This movie is begging for at least (insert number) rewatch(es) or some serious sudoku skills. In all regards, it's a beautiful, painteresque sort of picture which, unfortunately, lacks the motivated storytelling to make it a riveting experience. Aside from the aesthetics, the film also brings loads of absurd, and often humorous, situations to the screen which plot-driven ventures would never bother with.
The Gravedigger's cameo is hilarious.

It's been a long time since I watched a film where I wanted to see it again immediately after the credits.
One of Greenaway's most accessible films and a good starting point if he's new to you. The style of Drowning by Numbers is reminiscent of Wes Anderson's films.
The delightful banter, dark comedy, eccentric characters and all round oddball sensibilities of the film are all exquisitely bound together by Michael Nyman's effervescent and haunting score.
