I watched this because I was reading "Hollywood" by Charles Bukowski at the time, which tells the story of this movie's development from the writer's perspective. This is an entertaining movie. It's a character study of two drunks and takes place over a couple of days. Mickey Rourke's acting felt a little off to me. Having read several of the "Chinaski" novels I felt that he played the character a bit more confident and arrogant than I would have imagined, but that's just me. I recommend reading the book before watching the movie, especially if you're a fan of Bukowski. It should give you an added appreciation of the movie.

A strange film with a script that meanders but is always engaging. Feels like a Wim Wenders film. Some astounding lighting and striking visuals created by master DOP Robby Muller.

At times it sounds like Mickey Rourke slips in and out of Snagglepuss impersonations.
