Well, I found this pretty captivating. Every shot feels like a painting, painstakingly composed and colored just for the audience. Some scenes, particularly the flashbacks, drag a bit. But I was still mesmerized by the protagonists search for beauty/love as the camera forces you to take this journey with him. Simultaneously enchanting and uncomfortable, both precise and vague, this film demands your attention.

It's hard to judge him for being a creepy old man when that boy's hair is just so fabulous.

Beautiful and slow (never boring) film, but what a ride following the composer on his journey, literally & with his own eyes! Gustav Maler's music fits perfectly - sounds like a modern Italian score. The clothes, the environments, the directing, the feeling.

Now I must see the 2021 documentary "Världens vackraste människa" who won Guldbaggen (Swedish Film Institute) as best film, about Björn Andresen who played Tadzio.
