While a bit melodramatic, it is a wonderful portrayal of jealousy and it's downfall to madness. The acting by Arturo de Cordova is a bit over the top, but Delia Garces is wonderful as Gloria. I found it really interesting that I thought that it was very Hitchcock-ish while watching it, but I thought Bunuel had copied Hitchcock not the other way around.

The bell tower scene was so similar to Vertigo (made 5 years later). Was Hitchcock inspired by Buñuel?

This may be the worst Bunuel I've seen, and it is still phenomenal and so forward thinking. This guy may be the best director of all time.
