Wonderful film. One of Sirk's best. Strange it is not on more lists.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this, especially because I'm a Sirk skeptic. The screenplay rings emotionally true, and you really feel the "love" between the lead actors because their chemistry is so strong. The one weak point is the actor playing the angry son -- he's a stiff.

Nice soap. MacMurray and Standwyk are always great to watch. MacMurray has the making of the Dad in "My Three Sons" going on here.
