It's very colorful and pretty to look at.

Felt like the entire film was done in slow motion.

How much empathy can you feel for a foot fetishist? A barefoot girl falls asleep on a train, wakes to find a creepy note stuck between her toes and we're supposed to spend the rest of the movie hoping these two will get together. I'm rather baffled that this film is so renowned. Thin melodrama, songs of no appeal unless you're a fan of the genre and, OK, some pretty colors and scenery. Everyone in the film is fabulously wealthy, just like in real-life India, and the studio-bound "street" scenes couldn't look more fake. Two and a half hours long. At the time of writing this, TSPDT indicated it was my 30th greatest unseen film.
