This stylish movie about a high class male prostitue being framed for murder is facinating stuff even though the story fails to impress. The music, lighting and warderobe all come together to give the movie a kind of elegant, film noirish feel. Richard Gere gives an interesting performance, both shy and self-confident, charming, lonely, detached, and sympathetic enough to care about.

Blondie's "Call Me" may just be the best thing in the history of cinema.

This is not a first version of Fifty Shades of Grey but a Schrader film where he picks in Bresson's pockets.
