Quite simply: one of the best movies ever made. There is a weird, once-in-a-lifetime alchemy at work here that has produced a profoundly human quasi-documentary portrayal of a deeply damaged outsider. Every scene has grace notes of astounding beauty. There is not a single other movie director who has captured the poetry of the individual and the world around him as well as Herzog has.

Werner does it his way as always. Which is better getting your ass kicked by German thugs or getting it kicked by an American bank. What a choice!
