a pseudo-intellectual and faux-emotional movie that fails on every level. uninspiring and completely pedestrian. (except catherine fcking deneuve. she is ethereal, a goddess).
if you want to see a dysfunctional french family's middle class whims, watch tavernier's un dimanche à la campagne, or bezançon's le premier jour du reste de ta vie. much tighter and focused. you can even watch assayas' l'heure d'été.
btw i now noticed that except tavernier's movie, all of these 3 movies are of 2008. interesting.
