An interesting blend between documentary and drama; take away the archival footage and you'd barely have an hour of an actual film. This is compounded by the fact that the most compelling and crucial moments are all archival footage, which kind of reaches the point where you wonder whether they might have been better off just doing this story as a straight documentary.

If you can get over that however it's a really enlightening and insightful movie with a strong social message that the script unfortunately feels the need to hit you over the head with in the closing monologue. It's not a masterpiece, and it is a bit dull at times, but it is an extremely well made and very important movie whose central character's message is just as relevant today as it was in the 1950s.
