Suspenseful, dark and captivating noir film that was better than I expected. Narration at beginning and end is odd and out of place with the rest of the movie.

Dark, frightening, and suspenseful. The cinematography is wonderful particularly the scene in which Bearnes is killed by the farm machine (tiller?) We feel the panic Bearnes must be feeling as we literally see the machine from his point of view as it rolls over him. That's how to film a scene! Excellent noir.
