The world of 'ballroom dance' is definitely not one of my favorite topics in a film, however Luhrman managed to portray in a peculiarly comic almost kitsch manner that madness, and passion of those who participate in those type of contests, at least the characters seemed 'real', and that what appears to me like insanity gives some kind of sense and meaning to their lives, at least I think that was part of the attempt here. I really never thought this film would make me laugh or pass a good time!

Over the top but charming as few films are. Baz is the master of his own world.

I thought it was Mike from Neighbours in that picture :(
