Weird and uneven semi-screwball. Grant is having fun with things, and so is Hepburn at times but her scenes without him end up being clunkier in general. Her, indeed, tool of a Dad is a killjoy for her and the viewer; and the first and last scenes are inconsistent and fit clunkily - Hepburn's acting is too over the top though, in her defense, the writing doesn't give her much to work with here. Apparently they were shot much later then the rest of the movie at studio insistence to quickly start and resolve the plot.
The multiple gender-bender permutations of the main storyline are fun but eventual love interest character, played by Brian Aherne, is pretty shallow and uninteresting. Plus one wonders how much more fun could be had with the premise if it had been made just a few years earlier.
