really enjoyed this slow moving character study of a young woman setting out on her own in a big world. Thoughtful, caring, honest, introspective though clearly it moves at a pace that is still a bit too fast to be called "slow". While we can see some of the big plot points an hour ahead, it doesn't feel rote. My only complaint is it relied a bit too much, at times, on Ruby reading her diary in voice-over. Get why Nunez made the choice: just wish he hadn't relied on it quite so heavily.
