Idk, at first it seems weird or even boring, but a second view on this may be enough to get the essence of the movie, how fucked up travis is, which is really interesting, and i quite liked it. Found out that the "you're talkin to me" scene was a De Niro rehersal and the cameras were on, turning out to be one of the most iconic scenes ever, and some of the cabs conversations weren't scripted, don't know if that's true. So yeah, classics are classics. There's a reason for that.

It wasn't like a cabbie ride around newyork, it was more like going through the bylanes of de niro's mind. The movie encapsulated newyork in its most decadent state. I was so drawn by its hazy camerawork that travi's mental image,his hatred, his disappointment,his helplessness, his inability to comprehend the meaning of his existence and the scum that breeds around him everything was projected on my mind. The thematic change in the hollywood movies of 1970's-1980's had dished out a lot of spectacular movies,movies which were honest in the treatment of their characters, their potrayal was more matured and auteur's style stood for something and this being is definitely one of the most glorious movies of that spectacular era.Pure Masterpiece.

Great movie. Certainly not overrated. Robert DeNiro is absolutely amazing as Travis Bickle!
