I've never been a real fan of this franchise, with the exception of the brilliant Scrat sequences the characters and writing have always felt weak and aimed at the younger end of the audience, and that's very much the case here. The story is thin, the script awkwardly laugh free, and even Scrat's storyline is the weakest yet (with the exception of an off the wall and ingenious song montage from the perspective of the spurned acorn). There's a high point of ten or fifteen minutes of impressive animated action as the herd face assorted “lost world" perils, but it not enough to counter the obviousness of the plot or laziness of the dialogue.

The best animation of the trilogy, it's incredible what they did here. Simon Pegg as Buck was amusing and Peaches was adorable :)

Maybe not the best film of this franchise, but still very enjoyable.
