Wow. An instant favourite. Herzog is always brilliant, but this one is something special. Dealing with apocalyptic images in his own idiosyncratic way - every image is beautiful, bizarre and terrible - he transforms what most film-makers would style as a straight documentary into a mesmeric piece of science fiction. Extraordinary footage, constructed with the artists eye. Easily one of Herzog's best in a career filled with wonders.

An Apocalyptic nature documentary, a deep space adventurer's video journal, the transformation of the world into a mythic opera wherein we witness the creation, not of Heaven on Earth, but Hell.
Pretty durn neat!

I agree, absolutely magnificent. The gorgeous, strangely otherworldly cinematography and music work fantastically together in instilling these images into ones brain. 9/10 and my best older movie discovery of 2015 thus far (followed by Umberto D. and Persepolis).
