I love this movie, despite (or because of?) its insanity on so many levels.

One of the weirdest movies ever made impresses with its unique visual and sound effects, its ideas and scientific mumbo-jumbo. William Hurt is a revelation in the main role as the obsessed scientist and his descent into the primordial consciousness stays highly interesting despite the ridiculous developments.

Nice piece of cinematography.
Definitely weird, definitely outrageous, but has unique and binding atmosphere, and can make uncomfortable on any given level.
