Experimental/avant-garde films like this explore the filmmaking art. They don't have narratives, they do strange things, and they aren't going to be enjoyed by the vast majority of people. However, experimental films, like this one, can have a profound influence on filmmakers and some of your favourite movies might never have existed without experimental films influencing directors on how to compose shots, what camera angles or camera effects to use, editing styles and techniques, etc.

Before you bash experimental films as "pointless drivel," keep in mind that your favourite films might not exist if experimental films hadn't ever been made.
