A sadly neglected Powell and Pressburger - probably because in recent years it wasn't included in either of the collected DVD boxsets of their work - a sad omission. It reunites David Farrar and Kathleen Byron from "Black Narcissus" shot two years before, and includes a brilliant supporting cast of familiar British screen talent of the era... Jack Hawkins, Cyril Cusack, Geoffrey Keen, Leslie Banks, Emrys Jones and Bryan Forbes in his first screen role amongst them. The story is admittedly slightly thin (alcoholic bomb disposal expert must prove himself to shake his demons), but there's great quality to be found in the acting, the dialogue and of course the design/direction. Worth a look, certainly for fans of P&P.

Loved the German impressionistic sequences. Many wonderful camera angles.
