Admirable scope and technical values. Yet dragged down by abusive length, with storytelling not as good as the battle scenes.

At first I thought it started out rather slow but as the movie progresses you start to realize the scope of it all. It truly is a looong day as the title suggests and it manages to achieve the status of a war epic rather well. Many of the battle scenes hold up very well and still kick the snot out of some modern war movies.

Classic WWII war drama. Great cast and production and true to the real facts. Very well made with some classic moments and memorable camera shots.
