By Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster, the Godzilla franchise is well and truly on drugs. In this, a terrifying space monster is mixed in with Bondian intrigue surrounding a Venusian prophet reincarnated as a princess with a price on her head. Throw in Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra's larva to turn them into a Band of Brothers, oh, and the singing fairies from the other Mothra films are also back with a song that you won't be able to get out of your head. It's so crazy, it works. There's real invention and charm here.

I'd say it's one of the best kaiju films I've seen. It may be a little insulting to Godzilla fans though, because in this movie he acts like a little child. First he spends half of the movie fighting Rodan for no good reason, then he whines that humans are bullying him all the time, and at the end he saves humanity, which now makes the King of the Monsters seem far less threatening. They really gave too many human traits to the monsters in this film, which is fun, but again, far less threatening. Everything else besides Godzilla in this movie is great. I especially liked the human story line (with the princess and stuff), in giant monster movies I usually don't. And the beginning of the film really made it look like a scary end of the world story with all the weird things (high temperature in winter, shooting stars all around the world) going on. Not a bad one, check it out.
