A phenomenal film that I somehow have failed to see over the years. Polanksi's personal experience from this time period make this a very powerful and truthful experience without an ounce of schmaltz. I think the structure of the film is spot on - the first half shows the general misery and unbelievable cruelty that was taking place and the second half focuses on the title character's struggle to survive. The transformation of Brody from a sharply-suited young man to a shambling wreck clutching a can of aubergines is something that lingers in the mind.

Amazing film (harrowing, obviously). It would have been better in Polish, though. Felt distinctly "not right" for them to be speaking in English, and we have these wonderful things called subtitles!
Joker of Gotham
This is a amazing movie both sad and beautiful at the same time, a movie that show me that I should be happy to live in a world without war
