One of those films where the performance of the lead actor is better than the whole film.

I'm a sucker for high production biopics with top drawer acting, and La Vie en Rose certainly fits this bill--though it's not without its flaws. I would have preferred a more linear telling. I found it impossible to keep track of all the different faces and names; the rampant jumping through time certainly didn't help.

Melodramatic but entirely engrossing especially due to Marion Cotillard's performance, which certainly ranks as one of the best leading actress performances of the noughties.
