There is no structure to Caddyshack, nor any story or drama - which should be expected - what is surprising is that it tries to have some - in the form of Danny Noonan's struggle to obtain a scholarship and through some romantic entanglements he has. It all fails to resonnate at any level so what we are left with is the comedy, the jokes, the quips. The tragedy is that they are far between and only occasionaly provokes a chuckle. Despite having such a talented cast - the whole thing is mysteriously unfunny.

I just finished watching this for the first time today. I went into 'Caddyshack' expecting the typical film structure and plot. This is the wrong way to view this film.

Instead, it's film based on moments, like the sole scene with Murray and Chase. The finished product is very much a slice of a place and a time, of the cast and crew basically taking one film and improv-ing another one.

It's a classic based off the improv they did on this film. B+

Chevy Chase is the man.
