I take it you also think that Greed and The Magnificent Ambersons shouldn't be on the NFR, since those films aren't "complete" either? What about Metropolis? Even the new "complete" version is in fact not quite complete, a few moments are still missing. Do you think that one isn't worth preserving (it's obviously not eligible for the NFR since it's German)?
Sometimes you can only preserve what's left and that's better than letting it all crumble to dust.

I think that we should preserve all of our film heritage, wherever it comes from and however much of it has survived. I enriches our lives and our children's lives.
