If you look at this movie as a whodunnit, yes, its ending proves disappointing.

However, the themes of obsession and jealousy are at its core. In that light, this ending is brilliant and shows what rivalry can do to people.

Perhaps the reveal could have been a bit more graceful, making it seem less convoluted, but I think that would take away from the shock its has at the end.

I really think very few directors besides Nolan could pull this off.

When I first saw this movie, I couldn't stop thinking about it for almost two days following it. THAT is the mark of a truly great film. For those that like this sort of film, the word mesmerizing seems apt to describe its effect.

It's almost like there was two different movies in the same picture. One was telling you magic was all an illusion and other was telling you many things are possible. I could have done without the Tesla bits and the final twist because the rest of it was excellent. Those elements just didn't work for me.
