this is such a politically confused film and, as such, probably reflects a lot of the sentiment of its largely working class audience. although the "red" character is dismissed and routinely disparaged, he does not become a true villain until he becomes a capitalist himself. this dualist play of right and left politics is exceptionally culturally interesting.

Should be much more widely known.
